Favorite Things: Dubble Trubble Organic Kids Detangling Spray

28 Feb

Dubble Trubble Cool Cucumber Detangling Kids Hair Product

Hair products for toddlers?  Yes, indeed.  When you have a curly girl like my little lady you need a little something to tame the mane.  Dubble Trubble’s organic kids product line, available exclusively at Target, makes a great detangling spray in an awesome cucumber scent that has become our favorite hair product.  The smell is light, it feels weightless yet prevents curls from frizzing.  We use it on both wet and dry hair.

Dubble Trubble’s Cool Cucumber Detangling Spray retails for $4.99 per bottle, and is on sale March 9-April 5, 2014 at Target (buy 2 get 1 free).

Favorite Things: Crayola My First Washable Crayons

13 Sep

My little one is now 18-months so he’s beginning to show more interest in coloring and drawing. Hopefully he’ll fare better as an artist than his parents!

We got a lovely care package in the mail from Charlie’s Grandma (a.k.a. GMoo) that included a package of Crayola My First Washable Crayons.  He was obsessed with them immediately…though he did mistake them for bubbles at first.

The crayons are the perfect size for his little hands and easy to grip. They’re also great to just toss in the diaper bag so we can take them with us when we travel.

Charlie (with a little help from our nanny) drew me this sweet picture today. Fridge art for sure.

Hip Bibs {Baby Gift Idea}

18 Jul

July is turning out to be a huge month for baby gift giving in our family – from new births, to baptisms – we are blessed with lots of beautiful babies to buy for.  I just received my fairly large order from my favorite source for adorable and durable bibs: Baby Sophia Gifts.  There is an array of fun fabric choices for both boys and girls and the bibs can be personalized with names or monograms.

I have found that the way these bibs are cut is very comfortable for my kids (who often wore the bibs all day during their teething months) and the fabric cleans up nicely if you rinse out the baby food with a little dish soap before it dries.  My babies are drool machines, but they rarely soak through these thick bibs.

Favorite Things: iPlay Summer Water Sneakers

15 Jul

We recently moved from San Francisco to New York and wow, is it H-O-T. My little one overheats very easily (thanks to his daddy) so we’ve spent a lot of time searching for parks with sprinklers. Thankfully, there are quite a few. Seeing as how the summer in SF is usually chilly and foggy, we didn’t have the proper summertime-in-the-city attire, especially shoes. I found these iPlay Summer Water Sneakers and they are fantastic. It took a little while for Charlie to get used to walking in them and the first time, he actually slipped a little. But since then, it’s been smooth sailing. And for $14, they can’t be beat. I also found them in a color to match his Hanna Anderson swimsuit! One point for mama.

Favorite Things: Djeco Doggie Pull-Toy

We don’t have an actual dog, but this doggie pull-toy by Djeco – a gift from a friend – has become our household pet and one of my toddler’s very favorite toys.  He was quickly named “Doggie Chia” (we had chia seeds that day in our oatmeal), and he and the little miss became fast friends.  Doggie Chia has cute little wheels as legs, a springy head and tail and a red string that allows the little lady to walk him around town.  Doggie Chia has accompanied us on hundred of walks to the park, twirls around the apartment, and even on road trips.  Other children at the park flock to Doggie Chia and ask for a turn to walk him around the playground (or at least their parents do).  He is light, easy to pull and there is no mess to clean up on walks (phew!).  Doggie Chia and the rest of his family are designed in France and made of solid wood with non-toxic paint.  If you are looking for a family pet, this little guy will be a welcome addition.

Green Toys Chef Set

It was pretty chilly in SF the other day so we headed to our favorite kiddo store down the street, Sprout, which has an awesome playroom in the back. My little one was obsessed with the Chef Set by Green Toys. It’s made from 100% recycled milk containers and is dishwasher safe (yay!). The set meets FDA food contact standards and is also BPA-free. Of course I bought the little guy his own Chef Set before we left and he hasn’t stopped playing with it since. Fourteen months isn’t too young to get started in the kitchen, right?

Favorite Things: Willa Naturals Body Lotion for Tweens

15 Mar

This winter has been tough on my little ones, including their skin.  My daughter is fiercely independent, so I thought maybe she’d like to have a lotion to call her own.  I wanted it to be free of parabens and other harmful chemicals.  So you can imagine my delight when I discovered Willa Naturals.  Willa Naturals is a company started by a mother and daughter who had difficulty finding natural skincare products for girls 7-14.  We tried the Be Brilliant Natural Body Lotion and my daughter loved it.  The combination of chamomile and aloe is a light refreshing scent, her skin feels super soft, and best of all, she likes it so much she puts it on all by herself at night.  The Willa Naturals line includes 17 products and can be found at Target.
