Watch With Your Kids: Movies for Toddlers {things to do}

best kids moviesI don’t know if anyone else has had this problem, but my kids do not respond well to the typical Disney movies.  Someone always dies, and this is not lost on them.  Nightmares ensue.  We are always on the lookout for other films, films without such overt villains and/or death.

Here are a few movies for the toddler set.  Curious George is a great pick.  With a lighthearted tone and music by the incredible Jack Johnson, you can’t beat it.  Bee Movie is also a find.  Jerry Seinfeld’s humor, and no outright scary characters, makes this one a pleasure.  Our absolute favorite movie is The Muppets, which we saw in the theater in November and is now available on DVD.  The movie is purely silly and fun.  The cast is fabulous and the soundtrack is also quite popular in our house.  Some of the songs, including the hilarious “Man or a Muppet,” were written by Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords.  I would say this is a constantly evolving list, so if anyone has suggestions, I welcome them in the comments section.  Just keep in mind in our house, even Toy Story prompted tears!
